Sleep Deprived

...that is for us anyway, Isla is all set.  Our little coconut has decided that night time sleep is really not for her.  Isla feels that the middle of the night is an extra special time to spend with us as she has our full attention.  Trying to get her into a "routine" is a bit of a challenge, but hopefully she will fall into some sort of a routine soon.  As far as sleeping during the day is concerned, she is awesome at it.  Everyone keeps telling me to "nap when the baby naps," but does anyone really do that?

  1. Congratulations on your new blog. If you ask my wife, she would vouch that I am an expert at the extra special time in the middle of the night when the babies are awake.....

  3. Yeah - I don't think anyone told me that babies were nocturnal when they first arrive. I think it took Elijah a few weeks until he didn't stay awake for an hour or more after middle-of-the-night feedings.

If I needed a nap, of course I took it when the baby naps (when else?) but it's not like you can just sleep all day! You have to eat a couple times a day and shower every now and then and of course get on the computer to blog & share photos! I wondered how people did that too.

  4. I most certainly napped when the baby napped - and still have a profound respect for the rare-but-delicious afternoon nap to this day! :-) And that little midnight party Isla is throwing will end in a little while....hang in there. Some time soon, when it's a beautiful spring night and it's real quiet, and your daughter is just beaming at you and being all gorgeous and stuff, you'll actually enjoy it!

  5. I am a friend of Heidi's and had to check out your blog since I know we are both going through this new mom thing at the same time! Our little peanut has also decided nighttime is for playing...every night when I get up to feed him, his eyes get big and he looks at me like "this is so fun, mom! what are we going to do next?" And then he's out cold all day long. Sigh. It has to get easier...
